California Wines

Cold Hawaii Surf & Film Festival are over the moon excited about their partnership with California Wines, this year.

You might say Californians are serious about wine and relaxed about everything else. Well, maybe not everything else: from a thriving technology industry to revolutionary green farming practices, we work hard and innovate constantly. But when you’re surrounded by natural wonder and abundant sunshine, it’s pretty easy to smile. Of course, a glass of California wine always helps.

California wines are very diverse as the climate and geography vary incredibly, the coastline is more than 1,300 km long and there are about 2,800 different kinds of soils. A very important factor is that the state is located next to the cold Pacific. Together with the sun, this means a very large temperature difference between night and day, and that fog migrates into the river valleys and cools large parts of the wine regions down.

So much diversity in terroir means there’s a perfect place to grow nearly every kind of grape. In fact, you’ll find more than 100 varieties across the state, giving our winemakers the latitude to create complex varietals and unique, expressive blends.

Gnarly Head

LIVE BOLDLY

The motto of Gnarly Head is “Live Boldly”: Gnarly Head wines began with a vision and a vine. In 2004, on a mission to make a serious Zinfandel, our winemakers journeyed to Lodi in central California in search of the famed old vine Zinfandel vineyards. Grown in the head-trained, spur-pruned method for over a century, these vigorous gnarled vines produced more ripened red fruit than they had ever seen. They took it as a challenge to create the biggest, boldest Zinfandel they had ever made. The result was authentic, structured wines with a hint of something unexpected. Something Gnarly.

Gnarly Head are providing us with two rich wines:

Gnarly Head Rosé

Gnarly Head Old Vine Zinfandel

Both wines are avalible in Salling Groups shops, such as Bilka and Føtex.
